Healing Benefits of Salt
By A. Kennedy in Gods Women
So many of us are health conscious today and highly
processed table salt is a factor in certain diseases. I've read several
articles about how salt can be used therapeutically, and was stirred once again
to examine this scripture from Colossians 4:6. "Let your speech always be
with grace, seasoned with salt". Every chapter and verse of the scripture
is loaded with interpretation and this particular verse, at least the way I've
usually heard it taught, has been from the perspective to let everything you
say be gracious, and that is good.
Based on the healing properties of Salt, here's a list of
spiritual applications for you to consider:
1. Salt is a flavor enhancer, a seasoning. Who we are, our
words, everything about us, can enrich everything around us. It seasons us, in
the sense of not only flavor, but in the season we find ourselves in and the
seasons to come. "Taste and see that the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8
2. Salt heals wounds through dehydration, but when rubbed in
burns in the process. Ouch.
3. Salt also dehydrates. We need watered by Holy Spirit
every day. How thirsty are you?
4. Salt tenderizes and cures. Like in a wound, wherever we
are raw, we can be cured. We can also be tenderized by His love. It's a curious
equation that when calculated, equals grace.
5. Salt, whether it dehydrates or is appled as a seasoning,
can be bad for your health in excess. When there is an over-abundance of mercy,
there is not enough conviction that leads to personal change. Where there is an
over abundance of law, there is little room for mercy.
Conclusion:
When used properly and not neglected, natural salt can bring
balance to the human body by purifying and detoxifying. The same can be said
for our spiritual self. We must not shy away from either mercy or conviction,
or the expressing of it in our lives and in our world. Ecclesiastes 3:1
says,"There is a 'season' for everything". Think about it, and get
salted today!
About Salt
Although this interesting quote is from a new age type
website, it lists many uses of Salt:
"For thousands of years natural salt has been known as
a panacea. Alchemists called it "the fifth element" - besides water,
earth, air, and fire - because it's qualities were comparable only to ether,
the actual fifth element."
Types of Salt
Salt comes in various chemical combinations. Table salt is
sodium chloride. Other types of salt are magnesium chloride, potassium
chloride, calcium chloride, bromide and sulphates.
Benefits of Salts
Magnesium chloride is used to promote healing and has
anti-allergic elements when used topically. Potassium chloride regulates the
moisture level in your skin. Sodium chloride relieves stiffness and muscle
cramps. Calcium chloride works under the skin as a corrective tissue building
block. Bromide acts as a soother for skin, body muscles and nerves. Sulphates
are a natural disinfectant and found in certain vitamins.
Dead Sea Salt
Dead Sea salt is a mixture of salts with many benefits. It
can be used to relieve acne and skin irritations, hives, psoriasis, dry and
cracked skin, Rheumatologic conditions, muscle aches, stress and insomnia. Dead
Sea salts are dissolved in water and used as a soaking bath.
Other Healing Uses of Salt
Salt packs have been used for years as a remedy for swelling
and pain relief. A hot compress made with salt is said to reduce inflammation
and infection. Salt is a natural ingredient with few side effects. Used
topically or in a bath, salt has many healing properties that can benefit you.
